These cockleshell or “coquilles” earrings are handcrafted in fine silver using chasing and repoussé techniques combined with jeweler’s saw piercing work. They are inspired by a 1920’s plate design of the same name.
The gemstones used are natural pink chalcedony that were cut from limb casts (fossilized tree limbs). These unique specimens were found in Texas Springs, Nevada and cut in-studio into double-domed cabochons. This material is one of the only naturally occurring forms of pink chalcedony.

The ear wires used are sterling silver for strength, and have a tensioned catch to keep them secure.
